My Favorite Nail Products for Doing My Nails at Home (Because Leaving the House Is Overrated)
There was a time when getting my nails done meant sitting peacefully in a salon, picking out a color, and enjoying an hour where nobody asked me for a snack.
These days? Finding time for a nail appointment feels like coordinating a small military operation, so I started doing my nails at home.
And honestly? I love it.
Before kids, I didn't mind paying salon prices, because what else did I have to spend my money on? I also had time to sit at the salon for 2 hours.
Now? I can't bring myself to pay for my nails at a salon when I know someone else in my family probably needs something more important. Like socks. I swear I buy socks every two weeks.
I have tried everything from press-on nails, to gel polish, to dipping.
Press-on nails do not last as long for me. Not to mention, I hate how thick they make my nails. Even the best quality ones still feel "fake". Not for me.
Gel polish is okay, but doesn't last as long without chipping or peeling. Plus, sometimes I want cute designs!
Dipping is just an absolute nightmare for me. I want to be able to mindlessly do my nails while watching a Netflix series. I don't have patience for dipping.
Here are my favorite at-home nail products I use ALL. THE. TIME.
My nails last two weeks, although I admit - since they're so cheap, I change them out every 7-10 days because I get bored with the same style.
Semi-cured gel nail strips might be my favorite discovery for at-home nails.
If you love the look of gel nails but do not love carefully painting multiple coats while trying not to touch literally anything, these are amazing.
They're partially cured gel strips that you apply directly to your nails, trim to fit, and cure under a nail lamp.

A nail drill can help with shaping, smoothing, prepping, and removing nail products. And because mine is cordless, I'm not fighting with a cord or trying to position myself approximately six inches from an outlet.
Once you get comfortable with it, it makes the whole at-home manicure process feel much easier.
